Paul’s “armor of God” describes the spiritual gifts that strengthen us to remain faithful: truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and God’s word, sustained through prayer. Together, these gifts become an armor of love, helping us face this world’s darkness without letting it shape our hearts.
That darkness enters everyday life through deception, division, indifference, fear, despair, and the excuses we make for harming others. It grows when dishonesty becomes acceptable, disagreement becomes contempt, and another person’s suffering no longer concerns us. Paul reminds us that resisting evil must never mean denying anyone’s humanity.
To put on this armor of love is to remain rooted in Christ: answering deception with truth, division with peacemaking, indifference with compassion, and despair with hope. We cannot repair every disorder, but through generosity, forgiveness, and courageous action for justice, we can make Christ’s love visible.
