Life often tempts us to believe that God has abandoned us whenever suffering enters our lives. Yet St. Paul reminds us that God never promises a life without trials. Instead, He promises that no trial is beyond His redeeming power.
The Cross teaches us this truth more clearly than anything else. What appeared to be history’s greatest tragedy became history’s greatest victory. If God could bring salvation from Calvary, He can certainly bring grace from our own struggles.
Faith is not believing that everything happens for a reason we can immediately understand. Faith is believing that the God who conquered death is still writing our story. We may only see today’s page, but He already holds the completed book.
Discipleship requires learning to see life through the eyes of providence rather than coincidence.
– Every morning we awaken carrying plans of our own.
– God is already carrying something larger.
– Sometimes He opens doors.
– Sometimes He closes them.
– Sometimes He answers immediately.
– Sometimes He seems silent.
– The disciple learns that God’s silence is never His absence.
– Our greatest spiritual growth often occurs in seasons we would never have chosen.
The disciple therefore learns to pray, not merely, “Lord, remove this burden,” but also, “Lord, use this burden to make me more like Christ.”
For the Christian who loves God, nothing is ever wasted. Every joy, every disappointment, every victory, and every cross can become another step toward holiness when placed in the hands of the One who makes all things new.
