I, then, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to live in a manner worthy of the call you have received. Ephesians 4:1

Paul urges us to “live in a manner worthy of the call you have received.” Those words can feel challenging when we know how often we fall short. We want to be patient, yet we lose our temper. We want to forgive, yet we hold on to hurt. We want to love, yet sometimes we turn away.

The Lord knows our struggles. Jesus shared our human life and understands weariness, sorrow, and temptation. We can come to him honestly, trusting that his love does not disappear when we stumble.

He invites us to keep walking with him. With his grace, we can admit when we are wrong, ask forgiveness, repair the harm we have caused, and try again. Each new beginning opens a little more room for his love to work within us.

That love takes shape in ordinary moments: listening when we would rather speak, answering gently when we feel angry, noticing someone who feels forgotten, or offering help when it is inconvenient. Our homes, workplaces, parishes, and communities are places where we can make Christ’s love visible.

The challenge is to remain willing to grow. God understands our weakness, and he continues calling us beyond it. Each day, we can ask: “Lord, where are you inviting me to love more fully today?”

We may struggle throughout our lives, but we never have to struggle alone. The Lord who calls us walks with us, forgives us, and gives us grace to take the next faithful step.
